Positive Mindset

Let's talk about mindset today :)

It can be so hard to get into a positive mindset when you have life throwing you curve balls at every chance it gets! An unexpected bill, something needs to be repaired in your home, your pet gets sick, you get sick, your kids are ill and have to stay home so you have to miss work, the media - are always showing such horribly sad stories and giving us so many details of everything that is going wrong in the world. We are bombarded with negativity every single day.
It can be so so easy to get wrapped up in it and not appreciate what we do have.
Yes an unexpected bill may have come in, but you are healthy, have a roof over your head and people who love you.Yes your AC made need to be replaced but thankfully you have a job to pay your bills, you can make a payment plan to pay off the new AC over a few months and you can use your benefits at work to get a massage :)
Yes you didn't lose 10lbs in one month. But you did lose 6lbs, you can now run faster, you can lift heavier weights and you are starting to truly understand all this nutrition info that is out there!
See for everything bad that happens I can think of at least 3 things positive from it! Now this wasn't something that was easy for me to do, it took a lot of work, changing my daily habits, journaling, reminding myself every day of what I have to be grateful for and truly understanding how short life is.
In any moment my life could change and there is no way I want to spend it being unhappy, grumpy, dissatisfied with my life when I am the only person who can change it! My life and how I think is not the responsibility of anyone else, except me. Just me.

If you tend to be a little on the negative side try these five things for the next week:
1 - Every night before you fall asleep think of at least 5 things that happened in your day that you can be grateful for - your kids, your spouse, your friends, the awesome workout you did, or how much you enjoyed your yoga class. When you think of it, think specifically - like I am so grateful for the the amazing yoga class I had today. I was able to follow along and the moves weren't as hard as I thought they would be :)
2 - Don't sweat the small stuff. It doesn't matter. It really doesn't matter. Kids leave their sock on the stairs, who cares. Someone took your parking space at the mall, who cares. Someone didn't hold the door for you, who cares. These things are NOT important in the grand scheme of life :)
3- Turn off the news. For real. I read the paper once a day, but I no longer watch CNN, or Fox as they make my anxiety sky rocket and make so sad. Pick a news source - cbc or ottawa citizen and read that.
4 - Figure out a way to give back to someone you love or your community. Do something small with the expectation that you will get NOTHING in return. When you selflessly help someone the feeling of being kind and generous is incredible. Volunteer at a school or a seniors home, or make a little treat for someone you know who isn't well, or bring your co worker a coffee in the morning.
5 - Meditate for 2-5 minutes every day. Find somewhere peaceful, somewhere with no distractions, close your eyes and try to tune out the world. Focus on your breathing, focus on being in the moment, not thinking about the dishes that need to be done or the huge pile of laundry that is waiting on the other side of the door for you. Just breathe and relax :)
Having a positive mindset will really help you in every day life; allowing you to be more more patient, have more energy, and help you appreciate life :)

Healthy Fried Rice

One of my favourite dishes to get for take out is Fried Rice but I have found lately that when we order it for dinner it is lacking in flavor!  There aren’t nearly enough vegetables and the rice is usually hard and gross. So I finally decided to make my own!  I could seriously sit down and eat the whole giant bowl I made but will restrict my daily consumption to ¾ of a cup. Le sigh.  You can add more protein to this by adding chicken, another egg and feel free to add more vegetables!  If you do add more veggies you may want to add a bit more soya sauce and use a bit more cooking spray for the vegetables.

Healthy Fried Rice!

Ingredients

- 2 cups of cooked brown rice, cooled in the fridge

- 2 carrots diced

- 3 green onions diced

- ¼ of an onion diced

- 1 cup of frozen peas

- 2 tsp of garlic

- 1 tbsp of butter and or cooking spray

- 2 eggs scrambled

- 3 tbsp low sodium soya sauce

- 1/2 tsp of sesame oil

- Pepper to taste and salt if you need it!

Instructions:

1 - Cook rice according to package, once cooked, cool in fridge while preparing the vegetables ( I spread my rice out on a cooking sheet to cool evenly).

2- Add carrots, onions, garlic and peas to pan that has been sprayed with pam or 1 tbsp of melted butter. Sautee for 5 minutes.

3 – Add egg and green onions, sautée for 3 minutes

4 – Add cooked rice, soya sauce and sesame oil.  Fry the rice with the veggies for 2 minutes and then serve!

For those doing the 21 day fix, ¾ of a cup of this would be 3 tsp, 1 orange, 1 yellow, ½ red, and ½ a green.

Why Not YOU?!!

Do not let what other people think of you stop you from doing anything you want in life!

When I became a beachbody coach I was so scared of what other people would think of me. For most of my life I always felt a need to be accepted by others, always please others and I didn’t like confrontation. I knew that when I started sharing what I was doing with beachbody that people would start to make fun of me, say that I wasn’t in great shape so how could I help others, and talk a...bout me behind my back. But I did it anyways and didn’t listen to those people. It was a struggle at first to share so much and put myself out there but I knew if I wanted my goals and dreams to come true, I had to keep doing it. I started to focus on the positive...the results my clients were getting, the effort that my team was putting in and I started to be more consistent with my workouts and eating better. I used the negative energy to fuel me, to change my mindset, to improve myself and to work harder.

Do not let the fear of what others think hold you back!!! If I did, I don’t know where I would be right now, I am so happy I pushed those thoughts aside and did what I knew in my heart would work for me!

EN ROUTE TO BEACHBODY’S COACH SUMMIT 2015 IN NASHVILLE

Wow. Is this real life? Am I actually sitting in the airport in Philadelphia, waiting to connect to my next flight to Nashville – to the biggest Beachbody event of the year? For the longest time I didn’t think this would actually happen. I mean I knew I would get here eventually, but to actually be experiencing this is amazing.
I have watched the live streaming of Summit for the past two years and each time it moves me a little more – hearing the success stories of coaches, how Beachbody has transformed their lives financially, and how using the programs have completely changed their health. Seeing the passion in the CEO’s speeches, his desire to help all of the coaches have successful businesses, and his desire to end the the trend of obesity is contagious! Last year I was sitting on my bed watching the event, promising myself that I would do anything I could to get myself here… and now here I am!
Being a coach isn’t always easy. As with anything, I have my own doubts and fears. There have been hard days – days when I thought I couldn’t do this, days where I thought about giving up, days when I would lay awake in bed at night and wonder if I am doing the right thing, days when I doubted my own weight loss success and wondered “why would anyone want me as their coach when I’m not even at my goal weight?”
There have been days when my challengers message me saying they feel so much better now that they are exercising and eating well, days when my challengers post their non-scale victories (NSV), like picking a healthier option, taking the stairs rather than the elevator, completing their workout without having to do the modifier, or telling me that real food tastes so much better than processed junk. There are days when I hear from one of my clients that she needs to get new clothes because everything she owns is now too big, days when I get a message saying a client lost 12 pounds in 21 days, and days when one of my challengers messages me asking how they too can be a coach! When I doubt myself I remember these moments and they keep me going.
As I sit here in the airport restaurant sipping my coffee, surrounded by people travelling to different locations, surrounded by people travelling to different locations, I have tears in my eyes because of how fortunate I am. In just a few hours I will be meeting some incredible people in person whom, for years, I’ve only known online! Tomorrow I get to workout with Shaun T. and on Friday I will get to workout with Chalene Johnson! On Saturday all the coaches are closing down a street in Nashville so we can all do a workout together – 20,000+ people who all share the common interest of helping people in any way that we can.
I have some major goals with my business and I know this trip is going to motivate the shit out of me to get it done!
