November - A Time to Give Back

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day but yet many of us still skip it or don't eat the right foods to fuel our body for the rest of the day.

Why should we eat breakfast?

-Breakfast tops up your energy stores for the day and helps to regulate blood sugar.

-Studies have shown that eating breakfast helps improve your memory, concentration and aspects of mental performance.

-Eating something in the morning can help improve your mood and make you feel less stressed.

-Research shows that people who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be in their ideal weight range than people who skip breakfast.

-If you miss breakfast you may miss out on important nutrients . Breakfast foods are good sources of nutrients such as calcium, iron and B Vitamins, as well as protein and fibre.

Despite the importance of breakfast many, many children don't get breakfast on a daily basis. In Canada 1 out of 7 children go to school without breakfast every day. Imagine your son and daughter's classmates - there are on average 25-30 kids per class, so that would be on average 4-5 kids per class that don't eat anything in the morning. I know how hungry my three kids are in the morning and could not fathom them going to school without food in their stomachs.

This month, the company I work with will be donating $20 to Feeding America for every challenge pack that I sell and $10 for every order of shakeology on home direct. (a challenge pack is a workout program of your choice and a monthly supply of shakeology!) There are so many hungry kids and adults in the US that need this organization to live! I think it's a great idea and an amazing way to give back!

However, I want to do something for Canadians at the same time. The Breakfast Club of Canada feeds over 118, 000 kids every single morning across Canada. At the end of 2012 they had served children 18,000,000 breakfasts to 118,000 children in 1,170 breakfast programs. But still today we have 1 child out of 7 is at risk of going to school without having had breakfast. They have clubs in many schools, but more than 3,800 have a need for their services—that’s approximately 700,000 children who could be receiving a nutritious breakfast.

For the month of November I will be personally donating $10 to the Breakfast Club of Canada for every challenge pack that I sell and $5 for every shakeology order on home direct!

That's $15 to $30 being donated for getting yourself healthy and fit!!!

If you'd like to start the new year off feeling amazing now is the time to get a challenge pack - you are helping yourself and so many others across North America! Click here to get your challenge pack!
